How the Bible Came to Be

Summer Book Read

Discussion Group on Wednesdays at 7:00pm

June 10 - July 22

What questions do you hear about the Bible or even wonder about yourself?

  • How did we get the collection of books that make up the Bible?
  • How can we be sure that what it says is true?
  • Has the original text been corrupted after all these years?
  • How is the Bible different from other classic books?
  • What about translations -- are they valid and trustworthy?

We invite students of Scripture, inquirers, and skeptics about the Bible to come and join our book read.  Over a seven week period we will read 30-36 pages per week.  We will meet in person to discuss each section on Wednesdays at 7:00pm at King of Kings.

The book is written by Professor Stephen Geiger of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.  Geiger holds a PhD in Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies from the University of Wisconsin.

Contact King of Kings at pastor@kingofkingsny.com to obtain a $20.00 copy of the book.  You may also go to nph.net to read an excerpt of the opening pages.  Copies directly from NPH cost $25.99 plus tax & shipping.

Seventh Sunday of Easter

May 17, 2026

Jesus focuses us on future glory!

Join us in person or on livestream at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKv3ogN3GZcUD5aIqOkVN8g to hear in the New

Testament, in the book of Acts, the Lord provided another apostle to proclaim the resurrection.  In the apostle Peter's first letter,

also in the New Testament, we hear that in this life we suffer and await the glory to come.  And, in the Gospel of John,

in the New Testament, we hear that suffering leads to glory, for Jesus and for us.

Worship folders are available on the church door.
